Just when peanut-gate seemed like it couldn't get worse, The Washington Post reports that Peanut Corporation of America sent 32 truckloads of tainted products to the federal government's free lunch program for underprivileged children. The company is thought to be the source of a salmonella outbreak that killed eight and sickened hundreds in one of the most sprawling food recalls in US history. Public schools in California, Minnesota, and Idaho number now among the tainted products' victims; the USDA suspended its contract with the legume supplier yesterday.
