Who will President Obama be working with in Israel? According to Haaretz, the leader of the centrist Kadima Party, Tzipi Livni, has rejected an offer from Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu, who leads the conservative Likud Party, to join him in a broad governing coalition. As a result, a narrow alliance of rightwing and hard-line religious parties is expected to govern the country. Netanyahu says he offered full partnership in the government and two of the three top ministerial posts, but that she still refused. Netanyahu also says he told Livni he wants to advance the peace process with Palestine.
