If Yale University sees that a rejected student has checked their admission decision online, the school will not send them a rejection letter for the first time ever, said the dean of admissions. MIT also eliminated paper rejection letters this year. With 95 percent of prospective students checking schools' websites to see if they've been accepted or rejected, admissions offices say they can't justify the expense of mailing out all those regrets. “When you think of the college experience when you’re young, you think of receiving a letter in the mail, but things have obviously changed,” said one Yalie hopeful.
