An assemblyman broke the news to CNN: “The governor’s office called me and asked if I would stand with the governor,” Micah Z. Kellner said. “I said I will be thrilled to stand with the governor when he makes this announcement.” Former Luv Guv Eliot Spitzer introduced similar legislation in 2007; it passed the Assembly but died in the state Senate.
