WWD crowns this year's top collections

The economy may be in the gutter, but fall is looking up. WWD has crowned the season’s best collections. They love Burberry, which celebrated British grand dames like Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf with a voluminous and muted collection. Others they like: Karl Lagerfeld’s crazy ruffles, Christian Dior’s mix of 1920s Paris and far-East exotica, and a WWII-inspired collection from Lanvin. The inspirations may be all over the map, but they’ll hopefully all have one thing in common: the power to stimulate—both the economy, and our moods.
