One unforeseen byproduct of the recession: the realization that men really, really love well-fitting pants. The wildly popular online-only brand Bonobos just received $3 million in funding from a consortium, reports WWD. The brand’s cofounder said “Men don’t enjoy shopping or stores, so we have to deliver a product they want from people they trust,” and added, “We want to build a world-class online experience.” It’s been going swimmingly so far—their snug styles, which retail for around $130, have been extremely popular and have formed a loyal following. (The average customer owns four pairs!) Traditional retailers are jonesing to sell the brand in stores, but the company declined. On tap for the summer is a line of knit shirts, shorts, and swimwear.
