Julius Shulman, who photographed some of the best examples of modernist architecture for more than 70 years, died at 98. His stellar list of clients included Richard Neutra, Rudolf M. Schindler, Frank Lloyd Wright, Charles Eames, John Lautner, and Eero Saarinen. Falling into the trade by chance, Shulman made iconic images of modernist gems, which helped his burgeoning career and the architects he championed. His most famous image is a 1960 photograph of Koenig's Case Study House No. 22—a glass-walled, cantilevered home, suspended above the lights of Los Angeles. The Getty Center acquired his archives in 2005.
