Zaha Hadid’s futuristic architecture may look like a giant jungle gym but now, the Chicago Parks Department has a message for visitors: Keep Off! Her pavilion in Millennium Park has only been open for a month, but it’s already suffered significant wear and tear. Kids and teenagers have reportedly been climbing all over the structures, and a security guard has been hired to monitor the building. But according to architect Marshall Brown, the real problem is that Hadid never decided how she wanted visitors to interact with her pavilion. It crosses the line between architecture and public art—and “keep off” signs may have been overlooked as a result.
