Though the Iraqi government has demanded its departure, controversial military contractor Blackwater—under its new, but less commonly used name Xe—is sticking around. The U.S. State Department’s contract with the firm was set to end this month, but until a new deal with competitor Dyncorp International is finalized, Blackwater will stay for an indefinite period, “weeks or months,” according to the State Department. Blackwater will continue to provide helicopter transportation for U.S. diplomats through its oddly named subsidiary Presidential Airways.
