David Paterson’s stubbornness has interfered with State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s plan to succeed him as governor of New York. Now, New York Magazine reports, Cuomo is planning a more aggressive approach. It will begin in mid-January, when both men will report their fundraising and Cuomo’s war chest, at $16 million, is expected to be about four times larger than Paterson’s. Next, Cuomo will roll out endorsements from prominent black figures; currently, Cuomo’s camp is negotiating for an endorsement from state senator Malcolm Smith. With Paterson rebounding some in the polls, New York writes “Democrats say the Cuomo team is debating whether to push up his entrance as early as this month, so as not to give Paterson the opportunity for further recovery.”
