Google Is Word of the Decade

Google has revolutionized business, technology, and culture, and now it can add the English language to its mix. The American Dialect Society, after an extensive debate, voted "Google" the defining phrase of the Aughts. The decision was made at its 84th annual gathering, where linguists also named "tweet" the top word of 2009. In 2000, the same group decided "Web" was the top word for the 1990s, "jazz" was the best representative of the 20th century, and "she" was the word of the millennium.
