Christie’s management is undergoing a major restructuring, the French newspaper Liberation reports. In the wake of its largest auction of a private collection ever (the Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé sale, totaling nearly $484 million), Christie’s is reassigning the man responsible for the sale, as well as several others. The YSL hero and former vice-president François de Ricqlès has been named president of Christie’s France. Former Christie’s France president, François Curiel, will move to a new position in Hong Kong as the president of Christie’s Asia, where the art market is booming. Jonathan Rendell, Christie’s deputy U.S. chairman, who also played a part in the success of the YSL sale, is now moving to Paris to assist the house there as well as developing international strategy at large. On the stateside of Christie’s management matters, Marc Porter has been promoted from president to chairman of Christie’s Americas, but will remain president and board member of Christie’s Japan.
