Can Leno at least make Washington laugh? The White House Correspondents Association has picked him as the keynote speaker of its annual dinner, the Washington Post reports. The decision was made weeks ago, before he was the least-popular standup comic in the U.S. and was merely hosting an ill-fated prime-time variety show. Leno has some big shoes to fill: Steve Colbert's shockingly brutal–and hilarious–stint in the role in 2006 attracted widespread attention after his act skewered then-president Bush. Leno should be an old hand at this, though–he hosted the dinner in 2004.
