Following objections from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the Obama administration decided the trial for 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will not be held in Manhattan. Officials have yet to decide where, but say he will be tried domestically, possibly at a military base. Although Bloomberg was once an advocate for hosting trials in Manhattan, he changed his position Wednesday. According to Bloomberg's estimations, using downtown Manhattan would cost up to $250 million per year to provide security. "It would be great if the federal government could find a site that didn't cost a billion dollars," said the mayor. Although many officials support Bloomberg's switch of opinion, some still maintain that the accused terrorists should not have civilian trials, and should be tried instead through the military tribunal system.
