Finally, The Hurt Locker is getting its due. Kathryn Bigelow picked up the award for best-directed feature film at the Directors Guild Awards on Saturday night, and became the first female director in DGA history to win the prize. Bigelow’s gritty Iraq war film beat out Precious, Up in the Air, Inglourious Basterds, and Avatar, directed by ex-husband James Cameron. “This is the most incredible moment of my life," Bigelow said. “I am so deeply stunned and honored and proud.” Since 1948, the DGA’s feature-film award has predicted the Oscar’s best director winner all but six times.
