Shaquille O’Neal has dipped his size 23 foot in many media—from film and reality TV, to hip hop and Twitter. Now the NBA star is making a name for himself in the art world. O’Neal is curating “Size DOES Matter,” a group exhibition at the Flag Art Foundation in New York, set to open on February 19 in Chelsea. The basketball legend selected 66 works, after the show’s founder and director presented him with more than 200 images over dinner after a game. “Art is a process of delivering or arranging elements that appeal to the emotions of a person looking at it. It’s what you feel. I picked those things because they were beautiful,” O’Neal said of choosing both massive and miniscule works. The athlete, who said he observed Picasso’s work aboard Donald Trump’s plane, also has another artistic endeavor in mind. “I think of myself as a monument,” he added, mentioning he’d like Ron Mueck to construct a 20-foot, two-story high sculpture in his image.
