Barack Obama could be setting himself up for a foreign relations defeat. He made what the White House called a “friendly wager” with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper on the outcome of this afternoon’s Olympic hockey gold medal game. The prize? A case of beer. If Canada wins, Obama will buy Harper a case of Canada’s finest Molson. If the U.S. wins, Harper will owe him a case of Pennsylvania’s Yuengling. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs has also made a bet with his Canadian counterpart. If the U.S. loses, he will have to wear a Canadian hockey jersey for the first 15 minutes of an on-camera press briefing. The U.S. and Canada were tied 2-2 and went into overtime after Team U.S. scored a goal in the final minute to tie up the game. Canada scored in overtime.
