“Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” may be on its way out, but the mentality seems far from gone. The Marine Corps’ top officer, Marine Commandant General James Conway, said Friday that he would want to avoid housing gay and heterosexual Marines together should the ban be lifted. "I would not ask our Marines to live with someone that's homosexual if we can possibly avoid it," he said. "And to me that means we've got to build [barracks] that have single rooms." He also noted that the Marine Corps remains the only branch of the military to house two in a room.
