Take a number and get in line: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino sent a letter to President Obama urging the president to act on gun control. “[F]urther delay will almost certainly result in the needless loss of innocent lives, including many children. Mr. President, the time has come for action," they wrote, following up on a report they sent to Obama in August 2009 that laid out 40 recommendations to improve gun laws. Bloomberg and Menino point out that, had their recommendations been followed, attacks like the shootings of two Pentagon police officers this month could have been avoided.
