Joshua Matthew Stone, who was on the lam after a federal raid on a Midwestern Christian militia over the weekend captured eight people accused of plotting to kill law enforcement, turned himself in Monday night. Stone, 21, was the son of the leader of the group, Hutaree. Seven Hutaree members appeared before a federal judge Monday in Detroit; an eighth, caught in Illinois, was arraigned in Indiana. The feds are asking that the nine be held without bail on a grand jury indictment on charges of seditious conspiracy, attempted use of weapons of mass destruction, and possessing a firearm during a crime of violence. They allegedly conspired to kill a cop in Michigan and then ambush police who attended his funeral with improvised bombs. They hoped the plan would spark a wider war in the U.S., the indictment says. Hutaree's Web site says the group is "preparing for the end time battles to keep the testimony of Jesus Christ alive."
