Not all Pop Art included the bright colors and commercial subjects as a new exhibit of Ed Paschke paintings, curated by Jeff Koons, makes plain. Though Paschke himself didn’t achieve much commercial success in his lifetime, Koons was inspired by his work as a student in the early ‘70s, and transferred to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he worked as Paschke’s studio assistant. The Gagosian exhibit features more than 40 of his late mentor’s works and will be on display through April 24.
