One of the two suicide bombers who killed 39 people in Moscow’s crowded subway on Monday was just 17-year-old—the widow of a militant leader from the Caucasus Mountains, a Muslim area in south Russia, authorities reported Friday. Dzhennet Abdurakhmanova, who was reportedly responsible for the initial blast at the Lubyanka station, was married to a militant named Umalat Magomedov. It is believed that Magomedov was killed by Russian police on New Year’s Eve. A photo released Friday shows the couple posing with guns, with Abdurakhmanova wearing a veil. Officials have not disclosed the name of the other subway bomber; a separate double-suicide attack, which claimed 12 lives, struck Dagestan on Wednesday.
