Frenchman Julien Duret was a tourist visiting New York's South Street Seaport when he saw something fall from a ship into the water. Approaching the scene, he saw that it was a baby—and no one else was around to witness it. Duret jumped into the water and saved Bridget Anderson minutes before her father saw what had happened and jumped in beside him. Duret’s identity was unknown until Tuesday, when the Daily News tracked him down to his hometown in France. "The emotion took over," Duret said. "I didn't think at all. It happened very fast. I reacted very fast.... I've never done anything like that before." Baby Bridget’s father, David, applauded Duret as being “the first one in the water” to save his daughter.
