Despite a “not guilty” plea back in March, John Albert Gardner III has confessed to the murder of two California teens as part of a plea bargain agreement that allows him to avoid the death penalty. Gardner will instead serve consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for the murder of Chelsea King, 17, and Amber Dubois, 14. Investigators had previously found Gardner’s DNA on a piece of King’s clothing and removed items including shovels, pick axes, and digging tools from his home.
