Forty years after Mark Rothko’s death, the Russian-born artist’s work is being displayed for the first time in Moscow. The show, Mark Rothko: Into an Unknown World, will be up at the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture from April through August, and features more than a dozen of Rothko’s abstract paintings as well as the world’s largest private collection of his work. The collection includes some of Rothko’s most seminal works, including No. 12 (1954) and one of his final gray and black paintings (1969).
