The financial-reform train is leaving the station: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced on Thursday that the Senate will not wait for a bipartisan compromise to push ahead with financial reform: He’ll host the first key vote on Monday. “I’m not going to waste any more time of the American people while they come up with some agreement,” Reid said. “The games of stalling are over.” Republicans have relented in their opposition in recent days, but insist that they need more time. Republican Senator Richard Shelby, who is in negotiations with Chris Dodd over the bill, has said he’ll advise all 41 Republicans to oppose the first vote, which would prevent the Senate from debating the bill.
