The Democratic Party of Connecticut chose state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal as its candidate for Senate on Friday, even after The New York Times exposed him as a serial misleader about serving in Vietnam. In fact, the Times has uncovered a fresh batch of statements where Blumenthal seems to imply that he fought in ‘Nam, including in 2007 when he said at a Memorial Day parade, “In Vietnam, we had to endure taunts and insults, and no one said, ‘Welcome home.’” The Republicans, meanwhile, chose a candidate of their own who won’t be without her own baggage: former WWE CEO Linda McMahon.
