In a major reshuffle of Parliament, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il has named his brother-in-law as the vice-chairman of the all-powerful National Defense Commission. Jang Song Thaek is believed to support Kim Jong Un, the dictator's third son, in the country’s looming succession crisis. The Supreme People’s Authority, North Korea’s rubber-stamp Parliament, usually meets only one day each year, making Monday’s meeting very rare, but no official explanation for the meeting was provided. Also named to Parliament was a new premier, Choe Yong Rim, and six vice premierships.
