Manhattan residents hoping to follow in President Obama’s footsteps may soon be able to take a giant leap in that direction: The commander in chief’s old Upper West Side apartment is available for rent, at an asking price of $1,900 per month. The president lived in the one-bedroom, third-floor walkup at 142 West 109th Street with a roommate when he was a junior studying at Columbia University. The apartment features a windowless office and “only a little corner to call a kitchen,” The New York Times reports, along with exposed brick and wood floors. “[People] would be more inclined to take this one than [another in the building],” said the listing agent at CitiHabitats, “even if the other was a little nicer. It’s a dinner conversation.”
