Holy cow! Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg had a dazzling debut in the Major Leagues Tuesday night: He struck out fourteen batters and allowed just four hits in seven innings. The right-handed pitcher threw 94 pitches total—65 of them strikes—and didn’t walk a single batter. His only real flaw came in the fourth inning when he gave up a two-run homer to Pirates’ Delwyn Young. Nationals manager Jim Riggleman called it a “great night,” and said, "when you see guys like this come along, it's really special. He's humble—just really a guy that the Nationals are really proud of. Hopefully, we can keep him healthy and keep it going." The Nationals won the game, 5-2.
