In a massive brutal attack, suspected Taliban gunmen set fire to some 50 NATO trucks and killed seven people near Pakistan’s capital of Islamabad Wednesday. The trucks were carrying supplies for Western forces in Afghanistan. Around 10 gunmen reportedly stormed the depot where the trucks were being loaded, arriving on motorbikes and small pickup trucks. "This is surprising how close to Islamabad a group of so many militants have come, and got away with it," said one security analyst. "It shows there are serious security lapses." The Taliban have been blamed for a rash of attacks across Pakistan in recent months, including two strikes on members of the minority religious sect Ahmadiyya that killed 80 people in May.
