Amanda Knox has new grounds for appealing her conviction in December of murdering Meredith Kercher with her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and drifter Rudy Guede in a student house in Perugia, Italy. A Mafioso, Luciano Aviello, claims his brother murdered the young woman in a bungled robbery, and that he hid a bloody knife and keys used in the crime on his property for his brother. Aviello says he wrote prosecutors three times about his brother’s admission, but they disregarded him, considering him unreliable. Aviello told the Italian magazine Oggi that he could show investigators where the alleged new evidence is. Convicted for a Mafia murder, Aviello lived in Perugia when Kercher was killed, and says his brother was staying with him when he came home one night covered in blood with a hurt arm, explaining a robbery gone awry. Knox’s lawyers are demanding the new evidence be heard.
