A 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit the waters off the coast of an Indian island territory Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. A tsunami watch was issued for all areas off the Indian Ocean, including India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, and Malaysia, but has since been canceled. The center of the quake was located 97 miles west of Misha in the Nicobar Islands. A 9.25-magnitude quake struck off the coast of Sumatra in 2004 triggered a tsunami that killed more than 200,000 people in Indonesia and other countries.
