Desperate times call for desperate measures: The British press is reporting that CNN, the lowest-ranked news network, is close to signing up America’s Got Talent judge and Daily Beast contributor Piers Morgan to take over Larry King’s show this fall. According to the Telegraph, Morgan will sign a four-year, $8 million deal. Meanwhile, the network is in negotiations with Eliot Spitzer to take over Campbell Brown’s 8 p.m. slot, according to New York magazine. Writer Gabriel Sherman writes that “there’s no guarantee that a deal is going to be reached,” especially because “Spitzer has been known to overplay his end.”
