One day after having to hand over his duties in the Gulf, Tony Hayward headed to the Isle of Wight, to relax at a yacht race. Understandably, with oil continuing to gush in the Gulf, the social-networking sphere exploded with rage. BP's spokesman jumped to Hayward's defense, saying he "took a break" to watch his 52-foot boat compete in the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race. "He's spending a few hours with his family at a weekend," another spokesperson said. "I'm sure that everyone would understand that." It was the first break the CEO has had since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded on April 20th, the spokesperson pointed out. "He will be back to deal with the response. It doesn't detract from that at all." Luckily, he’s been replaced in the Gulf Bob Dudley–or has he? According to BP, “there’s no hard and fast date” when Dudley will actually be taking over.
