Isabella Blow’s eccentric style inspired many throughout her short life, and soon her story will take the spotlight in a new play entitled Blow by Blow. Jean Bergantini is penning the production about the woman who is crediting with discovering late designer Alexander McQueen and model Sophie Dahl. Besides being a friend to designers like McQueen, Philip Treacy, and many others, Blow was also an editor at Vogue and Tatler who acquired a wild collection of clothing and accessories that could not be matched. But as Blow’s story sadly goes, she eventually became depressed and attempted suicide numerous times before finally ending her life in May 2007 at the age of 48. The new play, which premieres in July at the 11th Annual Midtown International Theater Festival in New York, will explore her life under the direction of Jen Forcino and with costumes from Susan Voelker.
