The New York Times says that Pakistan is seeking to take advantage of America's increasingly precarious situation in Afghanistan by meddling in its neighbor's affairs. Pakistani General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has personally offered to broke a power-sharing deal between the Karzai government and the Taliban, and Pakistan also has promised to deliver the network of Al-Qaeda ally Sirajuddin Haqqani in a power-sharing deal. When asked about the possibility of Afghanistan utilizing the Haqqani network, Richard Holbrooke, Obama administration's special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan said, that it was "hard to imagine" but then added, "Who knows?"
