On Sunday, scores of people turned out nationwide to celebrate gay pride. New York, San Francisco, Chicago and other major cities held parades and parties to mark the annual celebration. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and New York Governor David Patterson participated in Manhattan’s parade, while Constance McMillen, the lesbian teenager who sued her Mississippi school district for barring same-sex prom dates, was one of its grand marshals. Chicago's celebration saw the very first appearance of hockey's most coveted trophy, the Stanley Cup. But not all the celebrations were so rosy. San Francisco's weekend took an ugly turn, when a 19-year-old man was killed and two others injured in a shooting at a gay pride street party on Saturday. A police officer told the San Francisco Chronicle: "This was definitely not a hate crime... We think [the shooter and at least one victim] knew each other.”
