Steve Carell to Exit The Office

Dunder Mifflin employees will be happy to hear this one: Michael Scott is officially on the way out. Steve Carell, who plays the loveable boss on NBC’s The Office, will leave the show, he confirmed to E! Online. “I just think it’s time,” he said at the premiere of his new movie, Despicable Me. “I want to fulfill my contract. When I first signed on I had a contract for seven seasons, and this coming year is my seventh. I just thought it was time for my character to go.” According to Carell, the show may go on without him—and he sees his departure as “a positive in general for the show.”
