There’s an overwhelming disparity between the number of celebrities financially supporting Democratic candidates and their Republican opponents, The Wrap found. In the California Senate race between Democratic incumbent Barbara Boxer and Republican challenger Carly Fiorina, Boxer has over 40 Hollywood donors for every one of Fiorina's. Boxer's supporters include Steven Spielberg, David Geffen, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Barbra Streisand, Robin Williams, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kevin Kline, Sally Field, Christopher Guest, Don Henley, Bob Iger, Ron Meyer, Peter Chernin and J.J. Abrams, while Fiorina can count only two showbiz donors, and questionably famous ones at that: Mindy Stearns of Bridezillas and a Telemundo ad sales director. In the race for California's next governor, Democrat Jerry Brown has a 3-1 celeb donor advantage over Republican Meg Whitman, who has contributions from Michael Ovitz, Michael Lynton, Tommy Mottola, Richard Cook and Elizabeth Gabler. If donor lists are any indication, famous Hollywood Republicans, like Jerry Bruckheimer, Gary Sinise, Patricia Heaton, Jon Voight and Kelsey Grammer, have been laying low. A political adviser tried to explain the divide to The Wrap: “One has to entertain the possibility that Republican donors in this community are just not happy with the two Republican nominees," adding that Dem candidates have deep ties within Hollywood.
