A big-time court ruling is coming out of California Wednesday as Judge Vaughn Walker decides whether Proposition 8—the state’s ban on same-sex marriage—is constitutional. During the 2008 election, a majority of voters decided to overturn a decision made by California’s state Supreme Court to legalize same-sex marriage. No matter which way Walker decides, observers expect the losing side to appeal and send the case to the U.S. Supreme Court. Until the appeals process is complete, it’s likely no change in the law will occur.
