This can’t be welcome news in the White House: A new Associated Press poll shows nearly six in 10 Americans opposing the war in Afghanistan. Only 38 percent of respondents support President Obama’s decision to expand the war effort, while just 19 percent expect the situation there to improve over the next year. However, 68 percent do approve of President Obama’s decision to end combat operations in Iraq.
