Popular 1950s singer Eddie Fisher died Wednesday in Berkeley, California, of complications from hip surgery. He was 82. Fisher recorded many hit songs, with four climbing to the top of the pop charts between 1950 and 1956. His spouses were also well known, as Fisher married (and divorced) Debbie Reynolds, Elizabeth Taylor, and Connie Stevens. In 1958, when he left Reynolds for Taylor, he caused a massive national scandal that hurt his career but shot Taylor into superstardom. Four years later, their marriage fell apart, and Fisher suffered a breakdown as Taylor married Richard Burton. Fisher had roles in films like Butterfield 8, Nothing Lasts Forever, and Bundle of Joy.
