Former WWE chief Linda McMahon has witnessed plenty of fights, but Monday night featured her as a main character as she faced Attorney General Richard Blumenthal in the first debate for Connecticut’s open Senate seat. Democrat Blumenthal attacked his Republican opponent’s statements about lowering the minimum wage, cutting jobs and supporting products built overseas, while McMahon attacked Blumenthal’s lack of business experience and accused of him of wanting to raise taxes. She also hit on false statements he has made on his Vietnam war record. While the two had not yet debated face-to-face, they have been locked in a vicious ad war prior to Monday’s debate. Blumenthal holds the lead in the race by anywhere between 5 to 12 points.
