This is one for the record books: More than 130 people—including 89 law-enforcement officers—were arrested in Puerto Rico Wednesday as part of a drug-trafficking ring. The arrests came as the result of a two-year investigation that was the largest police-corruption investigation in the history of the FBI. Close to 750 FBI agents were flown to Puerto Rico to assist in the arrest, nicknamed Operation Guard Shack. In addition to the 89 police officers, included in the arrest were two U.S. Army soldiers and three members of Puerto Rico’s National Guard. The FBI Special Agent in charge said police officers were caught doing everything from demanding money to boasting of murder. But there is still more work to be done: Four individuals named in the indictment remain at large.
