Harry Potter is losing a dimension. When the seventh installment of the franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I, hits theaters this November, it will be presented in only two dimensions—despite earlier plans to convert it to 3-D. “Despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality,” the film’s studio, Warner Bros., said in statement Friday. Director David Yates supports the decision, saying that it shows the studio “has always put quality first.” While the 3-D bonanza that Avatar kicked off almost a year ago has brought in plenty of cash, conversions from 2-D to 3-D haven’t always been welcome, as in the case of Clash of the Titans, another Warner Bros. film.
