NPR CEO Vivian Schiller has apologized to her employees for the handling of Juan Williams’ firing. “I want to apologize to you for not doing a better job of handling the termination of our relationship with Juan Williams,” she wrote in a memo. “I regret that we did not take the time to better prepare our messaging and provide you with the tools to cope with the fallout from this episode.” She stood by the decision, however, saying that it “was a decision of principle, made to protect NPR’s integrity and values as a news organization.”
