A four-year-old jaguar named Max escaped from his cage at an animal rescue center in Belize during a hurricane on Sunday and killed an American man, local authorities report. The man, who was also a citizen of Belize, was found on Tuesday with bite marks on his neck and arms; there were signs that he had been dragged into bushes. A spokeswoman at Belize’s U.S. embassy confirmed the report, but declined to give any information about the man. Max still hasn’t been captured.
