After two months of negotiations, and $500 million in new incentives, Warner Bros. and the government of New Zealand finally agreed that Peter Jackson’s prequel to The Lord of the Rings will be filmed in New Zealand. After a dispute among union workers, Jackson considered moving the movie elsewhere. But the country struck an expensive deal with Warner Bros. to gain some tourism exposure, and in return, New Zealand will provide protection to film workers from lawsuits. John Key, the prime minister of New Zealand, said, “It’s good to have the uncertainty over and have everyone full steam ahead.”
