Gone are the days of glue-laced toilet paper. Kimberly-Clark, the makers of Scott toilet paper, have created a new “natural” toilet paper that has no cardboard tube inside—so every last piece of toilet paper is usable. The tube-less toilet paper rolls will be sold in Walmart stores and Sam’s Club warehouse supermarkets across the Northeast and will expand nationally (possibly globally) if sales spike. While the lack of a cardboard tube means putting a dent in the 160 million pounds of trash produced from toilet paper rings, the brand is using less recycled paper in this new innovative bath tissue. But a spokesperson from the National Resources Defense Council says it’s still “a positive example of how companies are seeking creative ways to reduce environmental impact."
